On 24th November 2018 at Language Center (LC3), the second floor, Building 1.There was the Independent Study (IS) presentation under the topic of (Ability of translation the Novel “The Happiness of Kati” of English Major Student at Buriram Rajabhat Unversity)

ABSTRACT
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the translation methods of English Major Students at Buriram Rajabhat University, and 2) to analyse the translation ability of English Major Students at Buriram Rajabhat University. The samples were 20 people of third year English Major Students, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The samples were selected by simple random sampling technique. The research instruments used in this study was the translation test from the novel “The Happiness of Kati”. The quantity data were analyzed by percentage. The quality data were analyzed by descriptive and Newmark’s (1988) translation methods.
The findings of the study revealed that the most frequency of three methods employed was free translation 53, followed by word for word translation 38 and idiomatic translation 35 respectively. Semantic translation and adaptation were not found in this study. Moreover, the findings of the study revealed that the samples have translation errors. The most translation errors of English Major Students were lexical errors, the use of tense and incomplete sentence structures respectively.
